Zakat-It's always lovely to see your effort isn't going unnoticed!

Allah loves to see people full of hope and excitement during the blessed month of Ramadan. By giving Zakat, you are attaining closeness to Allah and ensuring your income is purified for the year ahead. Furthermore, if you give out Zakat while it is still Ramadan, your reward will be greater in proportion to the number of days left until the month ends.

In a Hadith narrated by Abu Dhar al-Ghifari, the Messenger of Allah said:

“When a man gives in charity what is permissible from any wealth, and he does so while fasting, the reward for what he gives will be multiplied by ten. I do not say that Al-Musa’ab (i.e., Zakat) is Al-Fida’i (i.e., one with a higher status than others); rather, Al-Musa’ab is a certain type of Fidya.” Another Hadith states that if you give out your Zakat during Ramadan, then the reward will be seventy times greater than giving it at any other time.

It has been narrated from Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said: “Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” In a Hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, he states that the Prophet Muhammad stated: “O people! Give in charity because there will come a time on the people when a human being will wander about in the street with his object of charity and not find anybody who accepts it.”

In another Hadith narrated by Abu Dhar al-Ghifari, he states that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “When the first night of Ramadan comes, the devils and rebellious jinn are chained up. And Iman (faith) is bestowed as much as possible during that time.”

In a Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu anhu), he states that the Messenger of Allah stated: “Whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.”

This is due to a narration on how our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) rewarded those who gave Zakat early:

‘The Prophet (saw) said that Allah gives more rewards for little deeds done early.’ [Bukhari]

You would be surprised at how much reward giving your Zakat can bring. Imagine this, if you give 2.5% of your income as Zakat and it equals £100 – which is pretty good. Then this means that Allah will award you with 5400 rewards points! That’s an astonishing amount which only increases the closer we get to the ending of Ramadan. It’s like receiving nearly two years’ worth of rewards one go!

Allah even loves it when you give more to your relatives due to His wisdom. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

‘The best charity is the one given by the wealthy amongst you. The most beneficial Zakat is that of a man who has a lot of property and gives from that amount that he knows will bring him a reward.’ [Tirmidhi]

Allah loves it when you spend on others, so why not splash out on those who deserve it? If you choose to give out on people during Ramadan, this will result in even more fantastic rewards from Allah. This is because giving Zakat early on means your money is purified for the year.

Furthermore, this also goes towards winning Allah’s approval; the Prophet (saw) had said:

‘Allah multiplies the reward for a good deed ten to 700 times except on charity. The one that is given to people out of kindness where He will multiply it by ten times only.’ [Tirmidhi]

Take advantage of the fact that Zakat has its rewards multiplied during Ramadan and seek more knowledge on where you can donate your Zakat. There are so many worthy causes that could benefit from receiving your Zakat donations. However, always ensure you give to legitimate organizations who help spread the message of Islam. This way, you’ll be able to attain maximum benefit from spending in all aspects!
